Wealth Creation Officers (Group Lending)

Role summary: 

We are looking for suitable and qualified individuals to fill the positions of Wealth Creation Officers (Group Lending) in our various branches. The officers will be reporting to the Branch Manager.

Specific responsibilities: 
  • Consistently grow the company’s product portfolio by marketing to individuals and groups.
  • Develop plans for growth of the product and identify suitable clients.
  • Conduct client education on the new products features and requirements
  • Conduct loan appraisals and make recommendations to the branch credit committee
  • Visit client business premises from time to time during loan assessment and monitoring to ensure the quality of the loan is maintained at the expected level
  • Participate in the setting of personal product targets and work toward meeting the same
Qualifications, skills and experience: 
  • Diploma in business related discipline from a recognized college.
  • A business related degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Group Lending from Microfinance Bank.

Customer Service Assistant

Role summary: 

We are looking for a competent, experienced and qualified candidate to fill the position of a Customer Service Assistant at our Kisii Branch. Reporting to the Branch Manager, the CSA will be expected to: –

Specific responsibilities: 
  • Deliver the highest quality customer service to our clients, staff and visitors as the initial point of contact by acting professionally and efficiently, using tact, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Respond to a wide range of enquiries from the clients, visitors and the general public by clearly understanding our business and products.
  • Answer incoming telephone enquiries and respond to requests for information received by email.
  • Accurately collect and record client information / complaints and direct them to the relevant staff to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Run the administrative aspects of the Branch.
  • Organize and coordinate Branch events and activities.
  • Manage petty cash, collateral accounts and event expenses.
  • Ensure Branch cleanliness and orderliness at all times.

Social Performance Management Officer

Role summary: 

Pursuant to Musoni’s continued commitment to Social Performance Management (SPM), it is imperative that it ensures that there is no disconnect between its stated goal of increasing its rural outreach and the reality of that outreach. Musoni therefore is looking for an SPM officer to help effect institutional change to achieve its social aims in practical terms and better meet the needs of the clients it serves.
The SPM officer will promote, implement and coordinate the SPM program in Musoni in order to improve transparency and enhance its capacity to innovate products that have greater social impact on the lives of clients and their families. He /She will especially focus on our agribusiness ‘Kilimo Booster’ product, the lead product in our rural expansion strategy, to ensure that we transform the lives of our rural and economically viable smallholder farmers. They will also be responsible for fine-tuning our communications and marketing strategies to be more responsive to clients’ needs.

Specific responsibilities: 
  • Coordinate SPM activities such as SMART Campaign, Social Audits, Social Ratings and regular reporting of social data to the Board and management
  • Analyse the institutional capacity and “readiness” to undertake SPM certification by identifying and prioritising key areas of improvement and provide concrete steps to enable implementation.
  • Evaluate, analyse and coordinate the implementation of interventions to address social performance issues and opportunities through the utilisation of innovation and new technologies
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a standardised way of work and effective implementation of all the requirements of the universal standards of SPM
  • Design appropriate tools to report on select social indicators via the SPM reporting template
  • Manage the acquisition of socio-economic baseline data and ensure the findings are fully integrated into relevant business planning activities
  • Conduct client and employee satisfaction assessments, Progress out of Poverty Index (PPI) data collection, staff training and coordination of social data collection surveys.
  • Carry out market research to gain a clear understanding of clients’ needs to improve outreach, develop better products and communicate more effectively with current and potential clients
  • Coordinate communications projects with clients and other stakeholders for the development and production of educational events, promotional materials, website production and other items
  • Provide writing and editing support for all outbound communication including all promotional materials, impact stories, website content, newsletters and annual reports
Qualifications, skills and experience: 
  • Degree in Development Social Sciences, Marketing, Communication or equivalent
  • Experience in Social Impact Assessments
  • Communication and/or marketing experience
Desired competencies and personal attributes:
  • Experienced in one or more of social risk, human rights, gender or socio-economic development programmes
  • Proven experience in using social media platforms and developing digital communications strategies.
  • Strong understanding of current online marketing concept, strategies and best practice
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills,

Internship Opportunities

Every four months, Musoni Kenya takes on a new team of 3-4 interns to stay for 3 month’s period starting January, April, July, and September. This position is for five days a week and can work with you and your schedule if this position could be the right fit for you.

Musoni Kenya is one of the most innovative microfinance institutions, having replaced cash with M-PESA for loan payments and repayments, tablets to replace paperwork for loan applications and processing, and using mobile phone data to create credit profiles for the unbanked.  We always have interesting data analytic and process improvement projects in hand.

The Musoni Internship Program targets various areas of microfinance operations including but not limited to Credit Management, Project Management, IT, Marketing and Communications, Product Development, Development initiatives and Finance. In response to customer demands and in line with our growth, we are looking for suitable and qualified individuals to fill the positions of Wealth Creation Officers (Individual Lending) in our various branches. The position will directly report to the Branch Manager.

Specific responsibilities: 
  • Develop new business opportunities by proactively marketing for individual loan products to suitable potential clients.
  • Interview, visit, analyze and evaluate borrowers and potential borrowers with emphasis on risks and particular focus on credit risk.
  • Prepare and make appropriate credit recommendations to the branch credit committee
  • Work closely with the entire branch staff to maintain a high degree of customer service levels and focus
  • Proactive loan portfolio monitoring and management
  • Preparation of performance reports, work plans and activity reports
  • Participate in setting up personal productivity targets and work towards achieving them
Qualifications, skills and experience: 
  • A College Diploma or University Degree preferably in business related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • At least 2 years demonstrable experience in Individual Lending from a Commercial Bank
  • Computer literate and proficient
