Walter Owaga

Walter Owaga is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, of 18 years standing, a commissioner for oaths, Notary Public, Patent and Trade Mark Agent with extensive knowledge and experience in real estate banking finance, property law, and commercial Law with a bias in Intellectual property Law, banking law, insolvency law, mergers and acquisitions, energy law and an astute contract negotiator with a vast experience in commercial litigation and tax law.

His expertise lies in providing strategic legal advice and solutions to clients, ranging from individuals to corporations, navigating complex legal landscapes with precision and efficiency. He brings a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies of these specialized areas, coupled with a commitment to achieving optimal outcomes for clients.

Dr Andrew Bosson

Molecular Biology researcher (PhD) turned management consultant turned venture builder, with a career focus on unleashing innovative models of development in global health and poverty alleviation. Experienced Project Lead with a demonstrated history of working in the management consulting industry and NGOs on projects ranging from pharmaceutical R&D and marketing to public sector and NGO programs on poverty reduction, innovation cluster / job creation, healthcare systems and advanced analytics, including multi-year regional experience in East and Southern Africa. Startup Executive in C-suite for two startups, Seed to Series A stage, working across functions in product, operations, people, customer success, and market expansion.

Tesh Mbaabu

Tesh Mbaabu is a 30 year-old serial technology entrepreneur. He is currently the CEO of MarketForce, a leading Pan-African B2B Ecommerce and Fintech marketplace; and Chpter, an AI-powered conversational commerce platform that enables merchants to sell more on social platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram by automating conversations, marketing, and payments all in one place.

He is a creative and strategic thinker from both a product and commercial perspective; experienced in building startups in the African scene. Through Mesozi, he supports and invests in Africa’s next generation of high growth technology startups and entrepreneurs.

As an avid adventure seeker, Tesh also co-founded Cloud9xp, which helps travellers to easily discover and book the best leisure experiences, at the best price, across Africa. They exited to HotelOnline in 2020.

Prior to co-founding Mesozi, Tesh was the Founder and Creative Director of a graphic, web and digital design agency, Tesh Technologies Limited(TeshTeq), a venture he started at the age of 18.

Through his personal blog, he shares about his journey as a technology entrepreneur, the adventures he undertakes, the people he meets, the books he’s reading, and what he’s learning.

Dr. Salome Oyuga

Highly skilled Financial Controller with 11 years of diverse accounting and finance experience in top-level business environments. I have a broad knowledge of a wide range of financial practices, including and not limited to legal compliance, Financial administration, management, analysis and reporting.

I am extremely meticulous with an eye for detail and positive outlook in often complex financial landscapes. Outstanding leadership and demonstrated a track record of improving the financial performance of the organization, optimize productivity, operations and internal control. I previously managed to exceed cost savings target of 15% to deliver 28% in the FY2017 through a cost-cutting initiative across the organization as one of my key achievements.

In my current role, I have been pivotal in overseeing and assisting in project development, formulation and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to finance management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll. Commanded good analytical skills, people skills, organizational skills as the role entails leading multiple groups in a fast-paced business environment.

Dr. Andrew Njiraini

Dr. Andrew Njiraini Njiinu is a seasoned business management professional and scholar with over 17 years of experience across various sectors. His expertise spans advising SMEs, local and global corporates on working capital solutions, with a particular focus on treasury and trade finance. Dr. Njiraini has played a pivotal role in offering strategic advisory to some of Kenya’s largest rice growers, dairy cooperatives, and farmer associations, driving significant improvements in productivity and commercialization.

Currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer at Flywheel Advisory, Dr. Njiraini oversees support functions, partnerships, and strategic initiatives. He also leads the Flywheel Academy as Faculty Lead, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational content. His leadership extends to managing all operational aspects of Flywheel Advisory and Flywheel Academy, ensuring that the organization meets its strategic goals.

Before joining Flywheel Advisory, Dr. Njiraini was the Head of Research and Commercialization at Endless Africa Limited, where he led initiatives that significantly increased productivity across various agricultural value chains. His strategic oversight in partnerships, land mobilization, and regulatory approvals contributed to large-scale successes in the rice, dairy, and livestock sectors.

Dr. Njiraini’s banking career includes significant roles at Gulf African Bank and Bank of Africa Kenya Ltd, where he held positions in trade finance and correspondent banking. His work in these roles was marked by substantial growth in trade finance books, cost-saving measures, and the establishment of robust client and institutional relationships. He has a proven track record of structuring profitable trade finance transactions and managing correspondent banking relationships.

Dr. Njiraini holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from United States International University-Africa, with a thesis focusing on the influence of transformational leadership on job satisfaction in Kenyan commercial banks. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business Administration from United States International University-Africa. Additionally, he is certified in Risk Management by the Institute of Risk Management (UK).

His insights have been published in various academic journals and popular media, including Business Daily Africa, where he recently discussed strategies for Kenya to exit the Grey List. Dr. Njiraini’s research interests include leadership, agribusiness, and risk management, and his work continues to influence both academic and commercial sectors in Kenya and beyond.

For over 20 years, I have modeled my career as an executive leader with an interest in investment and finance. I have spearheaded multimillion-dollar projects, exceeding over 200 million and raised over Kshs 20 Million through fundraising initiatives.

I am known for impact through partnerships, having strengthened relations with reputed NGOs such as Samaritan’s Purse, USAID, Afraca, and key stakeholders within the public and private sectors.

I have built experience in financial planning, revenue generation, treasury, financial risk mitigation, budget management, management of cash flow, and taxation with expertise in strategic financial management and leveraging on financial technology.

Career Highlights:
📍 Strengthened donor relationships at Tenwek Hospital, surpassing the initial fundraising goal by 30% on a USAID-funded project.

📍 Spearheaded the rollout of new systems such as Business Central 365 and Hospidia.

📍 Reputed for executive leadership having been responsible for teams amounting to over 1200 employees while working as Director of Finance and IT.

My strategy lies in influencing teams to take action, adopt an out-of-the-box approach to strategy implementation, and having a keen eye for details. I have monitored finance systems, aligned operations, handled budgets, and led projects from inception to completion.
